Dragonball Z Summary The series continues the adventures of Son Goku who, along with his companions, defend the Earth and other fictional planets against various supervillains. While the original Dragon Ball anime followed Goku through childhood into adulthood, Dragon Ball Z parallels his adult life with the maturation of his first child, Son Gohan. The series also gives focus to the evolution of his rivals, Piccolo and Vegeta, from evil to good, with the former's evolution occurring early in the series and latter's spanning across the entire series. The separation between the series is also significant as the later series takes on a more dramatic and serious tone, with a number of villains either threatening or committing acts of mass murder or outright genocide. Goku The protagonist, but lacks depth. Wait...this is a boy's fighting manga so they all lack depth. It's centered around fights. His stupidity cracks me up though. Originally named Kakarotto (カカロット, Kakarotto?, addressed as Kakarrot in English adaptations),[5] Goku is born a member of a fictional race of extraterrestrials called Saiyans. Shortly following his birth, Goku is sent from his home, a fictional planet named Vegeta, to prepare Earth for sale on the intergalactic market by destroying all its life.[6] Due to an injury to his head that caused him severe amnesia, Goku forgets his purpose, and instead focuses on becoming stronger for little more than the pleasure of it.[6] Goku meets a brilliant teenage girl named Bulma, the desert bandit Yamucha, and two shape-shifters named Oolong and Pu-erh. As the series continues, most of the characters introduced are basic parodies of characters found in Wu Cheng'en's Journey to the West.[7] He also encounters one his closest friends, Kuririn, and others during his training. Participating in several Tenkaichi Budokai, Goku also battles foes- turned-allies such as Tenshinhan and Chaozu, as well as Piccolo Daimao's offspring of the same name. During his early adulthood, Goku meets his older brother, Raditz, an encounter that results in his death. Following the wish for his revival from the Dragon Balls, Goku continues to face other enemies thereafter linked to his heritage, such as Vegeta and Freeza. As the series continues, the focus on Goku's past is shifted away from as new enemies are introduced simply as threats to the fictional universe. After his encounter with Freeza, Goku trains his child, Son Gohan, to be his successor. Goku sacrifices himself during the battle against Cell, leaving Gohan to succeed him. Goku returns several years later from the afterlife to visit Earth, however is drawn into a battle for the Universe against an extraterrestrial genie named Majin Buu. During the Tenkaichi Budokai ten years after Majin Buu's defeat, Goku meets Buu's human reincarnation, Uub, and takes off with him in the end of the story, intending to train him as a successor (until Dragon Ball GT) after realizing that his previous successor, Gohan, had prioritized his education over his fighting. Gohan His Saiyaman shit cracks me up-but I like him, cause though he's a protagonist, there is that oppressed beast side to him that comes out and lashes out at everyone sometimes. Premiering in chapter #196 of the original manga, Gohan is introduced as the four-year-old son of the series' main protagonist, Son Goku. Described as well-mannered and reserved,[2][7] Gohan's story begins following his abduction by the Saiyan named Raditz, Goku's older brother. Later, while Goku is pinned to the ground, Gohan's extreme distress exploded with the release of his dormant power, which allowed him to injure Raditz. Piccolo, startled by this, then takes Gohan away following the fight and Goku's death, and trains him for the upcoming battle against the two other Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa.[8] Fraught at first with inhibitions about his untapped abilities and aspiring instead to become a scholar,[9] Gohan does not immediately recognize his own strength. Gohan is also shown to be unaccustomed to the rigorous training lifestyle, and he worries about what to eat and where to sleep,[10] but quickly adapts and earns Piccolo's approval.[6] It is suggested by Kami, the god of Earth, that Piccolo senses that Kami has prophesized his own death within the year, which would mean his as well (as the two share a single lifespan), and that he trains Gohan as a possible means of leaving something behind.[11] His tutelage under Piccolo forms a deep bond between the two characters, with Piccolo ultimately sacrificing himself to save Gohan during their fight with Nappa.[12] As a result of defeating the antagonist Cell during a later portion of the manga, Gohan succeeded Goku as the world's greatest defender for a time. The consequent peace that followed allowed him to continue his studies, and later, a sixteen-year-old Gohan[13] is shown enrolling at Orange Star High School in Satan City. Participating in the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai, Gohan is depicted as having grown weaker, which the Daizenshū World Guide book explains as due to a lack of training and anger in transforming.[3] Following the defeat of Majin Buu and a ten year gap at the end of Dragon Ball Z, Gohan is depicted with a wife, Videl, and a daughter, Pan. Goten Goten is first introduced at the beginning of the Majin Buu Saga as the second son of Son Goku, the series' protagonist.[3] Goten is soon trained by his older brother Son Gohan in preparation for the Tenkaichi Budokai, which Goten's father, Goku would be attending (Goku had died before Goten was born and was able to join the tournament due to being a good person while he was alive). During the training, Goten was revealed to be able to become a Super Saiyan.[4] During the tournament, Goten easily breezes through the kids division of the Tenkaichi Budokai, until he is beaten by Trunks, Goten's best friend and the son of Vegeta. Goten and Trunks, still best friends as teenagers.Later, Goten, along with Trunks, watches as the main villain of the Majin Buu Saga, Majin Buu fights Vegeta. Goten and Trunks attempt to assist a beaten Vegeta but are knocked out by Vegeta and taken away by Piccolo before Vegeta sacrifices himself in an attempt to defeat Buu. However these efforts are in vain, as Buu regenerates, while Vegeta dies from the aftershock of his attack.[5] In a last ditch effort to save the world, Goku along with the help of Piccolo, teaches Trunks and Goten Fusion, a technique that allows the two children to fuse into a more powerful warrior, Gotenks. Gotenks battles Majin Buu multiple times but even when he transforms into a Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks' power is not enough to defeat Buu and he is eventually absorbed by Majin Buu, making Buu stronger. Goten and Trunks are eventually rescued from Buu by Vegeta and Goku but they are killed after Majin Buu destroys the Earth.[6] Goten is later brought back to life along with the rest of the Earth via the Dragon Balls in order to give energy to Goku's Genki Dama attack, which defeats Buu.[7] Goten then returns to a normal life on Earth. In Dragon Ball GT, Goten particates in battles against other fictional supervillains such as the space parasite Baby, the artificial human Super 17 and the evil dragon, Yi Xing Long. He was cute when he was little, but...he grew up an ugly flirt that thinks of girls and girls only. Chi-chi Her name means boobs in Japanese and she hits people with frying pans. Wow. Chichi (チチ, Chichi?), known as Chi-Chi in the Viz manga, is the wife of Son Goku, and the mother of Gohan and Goten. She is often depicted as a sometimes nagging, but fundamentally well-meaning, woman who sincerely looks for her children and husband's well-being even when their views clash. She and Goku first meet as children, and Goku promises to marry her, thinking marriage is a kind of food. Several years later, she finds him at the 23rd Tenka'ichi Budôkai, and despite confessing that he misunderstood what she had meant, Goku fulfills his promise and asks her to marry him. As she stays young, she disapproves of Goku's lifestyle, enough to wrongfully ban Gohan from following in his foot steps, but due to the threats like Freeza and Cell, she is forced to let him train under the blatant conditions. As the years pass, she relaxes this with Goten by training him herself while Gohan is away at high school. In the Buu Saga, Majin Buu kills Chichi by turning her into an egg. Despite "settling down" with Goku, Chichi is an accomplished martial artist and one of the strongest women in the world, having made it to the quarter-finals of the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and years later trained Goten in martial arts. Bulma For a genius, she sure acts like an airhead. Bulma is the second character to be introduced in the Dragon Ball series. In the early part of the story, she is the inventor of the Dragon Radar and is searching for the legendary Dragon Balls. Bulma was hoping to use the Dragon Balls to wish for the perfect boyfriend. While searching for a nearby Dragon Ball, she runs into Goku. It is at this time that she finds out Goku inherited one of the balls (the four-star ball) she is searching for from his Grandpa Gohan. Because of Goku's love for the ball and his belief that his Grandpa's spirit lives in the ball, Goku is not willing to give it up. Bulma then asks him to loan it for her in exchange of taking him in her travels. At that point, they team up to find the remainder of the balls and the adventure begins. As the search progresses, Bulma and Goku meet Master Roshi after finding his pet turtle; Oolong, a shape- shifting pig who is terrorizing a village; and Yamcha, a desert bandit who Bulma soon finds herself attracted to, and who she eventually starts a relationship with. Throughout the series, Bulma goes through many life-threatening situations and is often a damsel-in-distress, needing the protection of Goku and the others. Despite their heroics however, Bulma at times takes advantage of them by escaping whenever possible, uncaring of how they will survive. In one of the final episodes in Dragon Ball; Bulma can be seen having a crush on Goku when she witnesses his mature features. This affection for Goku never becomes anything serious due to Chi-Chi's arrangements for their marriage, thus prohibiting any love relations between Goku and Bulma. As the anime progresses, Bulma's role waxes and wanes. In the later action-oriented episodes of the series, there is little room for a genius but Bulma continues to play a role as a secondary character, helping Goku and his friends with her gadgets, and having a rather rocky relationship with Yamcha. After five years of peace, an evil menace came to the Earth. It was Goku's elder brother, a Saiyan, named Raditz. After Goku and Piccolo killed him, Krillin and Bulma took the scouter from Raditz, and fixed it to find the power levels of people in human numbers. The only way to get to Namek, was with a spaceship. When Mr. Popo got Bulma to one, he tried to figure out if it really was a spaceship or not. After closer inspection, it was indeed, an actual spaceship. She fixed it with the help of her father, and flew off to Namek with Krillin and Gohan. While on Namek, Bulma is seen thinking a lot about Goku during the Namek and Captain Ginyu Saga. At one point she even looks up a a cloud and it's odd shape reminds her of Goku's unique hair. It may be that around this time or possibly even before arriving on Namek, she developed deep feelings for Goku, since as aforemenetioned, at the end of Dragon Ball she was shown to be attracted to the adult Goku. Also while on Namek, she had her body switched with that of the frog version of Captain Ginyu after she gave his frog body a special collar she developed that allowed him to speak in her language. Being able to speak once again, Captain Ginyu became able to shout "Change now!", allowing himself to switch bodies with Bulma. Ginyu attempts to use Bulma's body to fight, but soon decides she is too weak. Ginyu then tries to swap bodies with Piccolo, but Gohan throws frog-Bulma in the way and she is transferred back into her own body. Bulma is well known for her intellectual approach to situations and her sexiness. Master Roshi frequently harasses her. She is also very proud of her abilities and can be very cantankerous when slighted, which may indicate a similar approach with other men. After the Namek saga, Yamcha, along with Tien, Piccolo and others slain during the first saga, were revived by the Dragon Balls. However, Bulma's romantic relationship with him ultimately ended, though they remained friends afterwards. Vegeta eventually returned to Earth, staying with the Briefs family. Bulma chose to befriend him, developing a strong bond that led, three years later, to a romantic relationship that led to the birth of her first child, Trunks. Several years later she would give birth to Bulla, Trunk's sister. In the Great Saiyaman Saga, She helped Gohan by making a watch which automatically changes his clothes into a super hero costume so he could fight crime, without his real identity being known. In the Fusion Saga she and the other Z Fighters, with the exception of Goku, Vegeta and Gohan, hide on the Lookout from the monstrous Super Buu, however she is killed when Buu turns her into chocolate and eats her. In heaven, she, along with Chi-Chi, Videl, and a reformed Dabura looked for Gohan. She is revived by the Dragon Balls, along with her family and friends, and gives her energy to Goku to create the huge Spirit Bomb to eliminate Kid Buu once and for all. Vegeta Now here goes a well developed character. Starts out a real evil villain, and never loses his anger, but becomes "friends" with the protagonists, and although arguing and competing with him, at the same time working with him as an ally. But he's still goddamn ruthless, rude, arrogant, cocky, hot head, an egomaniac, etc etc. You know, the villain traits. Finally, someone who's a shade of grey and not completely white or black. His name means Vegetable people LOL. Vegeta is introduced in the manga as the proud prince of the nearly extinct Saiyan race. The manga never really elaborates on Vegeta's childhood other than him mentioning before his death in volume 26 of his tormented childhood after being taken from his father, King Vegeta, by the galactic overlord named Freeza. In the manga, Vegeta is implied to have had a close relationship with his father, however had allowed himself to be used by Freeza so that no harm would come to his father. Freeza later killed King Vegeta and destroyed the Saiyan's home world out of fear of their growing power[2], however stated that the planet had collided with an asteriod. Later in the seires, Vegeta discovered Freeza's fear of the Saiyans, and also learned the truth about Freeza destroying the Saiyans and killing his father. However, Freeza's influences of Vegeta were suggested to have changed him so much that he did not fight Freeza to avenge his father or the Saiyans, but to present him with a rival for ruler of the Universe. Majin Vegeta, the form Vegeta takes after being possessed by BobbidiAs the manga continues and Vegeta is revived from his sudden death, he is influenced by Goku; slowly changing from a villain to a protagonist. Vegeta had been defeated by Goku earlier in the series and sought a rematch, however the rematch was short lived. Vegeta had gotten married and had a child with his wife, however was revealed to resent them when he desired to be like his former self. As a result, Vegeta allowed himself to fall under the control of the evil wizard Babidi and have himself be evil again in order to fight Goku, thus becoming Majin Vegeta. In order to redeem himself, Vegeta sacrificed himself against the current threat, Majin Buu. Vegeta's sacrifice was in vain, as Majin Buu later resurfaced. Vegeta was brought back to Earth in order to fight beside Goku, and the two managed to topple the seemingly invincible Majin Buu. Fighting together, Vegeta begins to forgive Goku and even starts to think of him as a friend. At the end of the series, Vegeta is seen to have settled down with his wife and son, and even had a second child, a daughter. He is not revealed to want to fight Goku again; however, in the alternate ending of the special edition manga called the Kienzaban, Vegeta vows to someday fight Goku again. Bra Underdeveloped airhead. Her name is Bra FOR REAL. Her full name is Bra Briefs.Bra (ブラ, Bura?) is the second child (after Trunks) of Bulma and Vegeta. Unlike Pan who acts tomboyish, Bra acts feminine and sticks around her mom. Like Bulma, Bra has blue hair in the anime and purple hair in the manga. Her father doesn't appear to make a point of encouraging her to train (like he does to her brother Trunks), but the two are quite close, as it becomes apparent in Dragon Ball GT, where Vegeta proves to be very protective of his daughter on multiple occasions. During the Baby Saga, Bra (along with the rest of the world) is possessed by Baby. She is one of the four characters who help Baby become stronger; after this, however, her role is greatly reduced. Although she has never been seen in combat (She'd rather shop than train), except when Baby had her under his control, she does have the ability to fly through use of her chi. Her name is a play on brassiere, a type of female undergarment. Trunks Full name is Trunks Briefs, WTF???? But this is another character that has depth and background....well, the first one did. With what he went through with the androids and shit. Future Trunks is first introduced just before the Android Saga where he fights and kills Freiza and King Cold (Freiza's father).[3] Afterwards Future Trunks along with Earth's heroes (Z Warrior) greet Son Goku, as he arrives from a long journey in space.[4] He also warns Goku of Dr. Gero's # 17 and # 18 and that Goku would contract a deadly heart virus.[5] Later, Trunks, along with the present timeline Gohan discovered Cell's cocoon that came from a mossy and damaged time machine. It is found out later in the series that it is owned by the other Future Trunks and he was killed by Cell after that Trunks killed Android 17 & 18 in his own timeline. Cell transformed himself back into an egg while activating first Future Trunks' time machine to go back to the present timeline (to eat 17 & 18, absorb their powers and achieve the Perfect Cell form). It is probable that this alternate Future Trunks didn't train in the Room of Spirit and Time. Future Trunks then returned to his own time after the present timeline Gohan killed Perfect Cell alone. Future Trunks returned to the activated 17 and 18 in his own time for a second and final rematch. [6] Also, Future Trunks is responsible for defeating some of the most powerful villains in the saga such as Frieza, his father King Cold, Android 14, and Androids 17 and 18 as well as Cell in his own timeline. [7] Trunks first appears in the Cell Saga as an infant, where he is revealed to be the son of Bulma and Vegeta.[2] Years later in the Majin Buu Saga Trunks is shown to be able to transform into a Super Saiyan a transformation that was thought only to be attainable through intensive training of the body and emotions.[3] He trains with his father, Vegeta for the Tenkaichi Budokai, a martial arts tournament that occurs every three to five years in the series. In the tournament, Trunks easily breezes through the kid's division of the tournament, and defeats his friend, Son Goten in the finals.[4] Trunks and Goten, still best friends as teenagers. After the tournament, Trunks and Goten watch as Vegeta fights the recently released Majin Buu.[5] Trunks and Goten attempt to help Vegeta but are knocked out by Vegeta and taken away by Piccolo and Kuririn as Vegeta sacrifices himself in an attempt to kill Majin Buu.[6] However, the effort is in vain as Majin Buu regenerates while Vegeta dies from the aftershock of the attack.[7] In a desperate attempt to save the world from Majin Buu, Son Goku teaches Goten and Trunks a technique that allows them to fuse into Gotenks. He uses his fusion with Goten to battle Majin Buu several times, even attaining Super Saiyan 3.[8] However, Gotenks was not powerful enough to defeat Buu and was absorbed.[9] Trunks and Goten are rescued from Majin Buu by Goku and Vegeta, but are killed when Kid Buu destroys the Earth. Trunks is later brought back to life by the Dragon Balls, along with the rest of Earth's inhabitants, to give energy to Goku's Genki Dama attack.[10] The attack manages to destroy Buu and Trunks returns to a normal life on Earth.[11] In Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon , Trunks befriends Tapion, who gives Trunks a sword. In Dragon Ball GT, Trunks, Goku and Pan, travel to various planets in search of the Black Star Dragon Balls. He also participates in battles against fictional supervillains such as the space parasite Babi, the artificial human Super 17 and the evil dragon, Yi Xing Long. Pan Tomboy. She should be stronger seeing who her parents are, but people are just sexist. Her name means bread in Spanish. In the series, she is the granddaughter of the series main protagnoist Son Goku. Pan's ancestry comes from both humans, and the extraterrestrials called the Saiyans, which becomes the primary race throughout the Dragon Ball galaxies. Out of all the Saiyan descendants in the original series, Pan is the character with the least amount of the Saiyan heritage; being one quarter Saiyan and three quarters Human. Pan is the daughter of the first Saiyan Human hybrid to appear in the series, Son Gohan, and his full human wife named Videl. In the original Japanese anime, she was voiced by Yuko Minaguchi, while she is voiced by Elise Baughman in the FUNimation dub and by Caitlynne Medrek in the Blue Water Studios redubs. Pan's name is the Japanese word for bread,[2] continuing her father's food-based name. Videl Kick ass. Videl (ビーデル, Bīderu?) is introduced in volume 36 of the manga as the daughter of the comic relief character Mr. Satan. Being related to Mr. Satan in the series, Toriyama gave his daughther the name Videl, as an anagram of "devil", following Toriyama's tendency to give his associated characters puns as for their names. In the series, Mr. Satan is very protective of her, especially in respect to boys. Growing up, she trained in martial arts, hoping to achieve the skill level her dad claimed to have. However, she was not aware that her skill had quickly surpassed his true martial arts aptitude. She eventually grows doubt in his ability, and comes to the realization that her father could not have defeated Cell. She is a tough, tomboyish character, raised with fame all around her. In her spare time, Videl fights crime in Satan City. She becomes suspicious of Son Gohan after meeting him at Orange Star High School, and she even follows him for a brief time to learn more about him. Videl eventually discovers Gohan’s secret identity as the Great Saiyaman, as well as the son of Son Goku, a former tournament champion. She forces Gohan to teach her how to fly, and makes him enter the 25th Tenka'ichi Budokai under the threat that she'll reveal his identity to the world. During the tournament, she witnesses Gohan's transformation into Super Saiyain. This reminds her of the young boy with gold hair who fought Cell. She realized the young boy was actually Gohan, and discovered Gohan was the one who defeated Cell, not her father. During their time together, Videl begins to fall in love with Gohan, which is shown notably due to her reaction to and her denial of the news of Gohan's supposed death. After the Buu saga, the two get married, and have a child named Pan. Piccolo Asexual green man. Piccolo was first introduced as the reincarnation of the evil Piccolo Daimao, making him a demon and archrival of the primary protagonist named Son Goku. However, it is later revealed that he is from the race of alien beings called Namekians. Even though Piccolo is consistently referred to as male, being of Namekian heritage makes him genderless. Piccolo's name is originally derived from the musical instrument, as all of the great Demon King Piccolo Daimao's henchmen (who are his other children) had the names of various instruments. Around the start of the Freeza Saga, it's revealed that his name means "another world" in Namekian.[1] After his narrow defeat against Goku, Piccolo is soon forced to form an at first uneasy alliance with Goku and his friends against newer, more dangerous threats. Out of necessity he also takes it upon himself to train Goku's child Son Gohan, forming a powerful bond which ultimately redeems him when he sacrifices himself to save the child's life. After his resurrection he fully joins Goku and the others in their struggles against ever more powerful villains, although he frequently makes up the excuse of doing so only because he wants to take over the world someday, in contrast to his genuine reform. Android#18 My 2nd favorite cartoon character after Kagura from Inuyasha! That's a bad-ass bitch! She'll kick some ass and look fine while doing it. But she's married to a damn bald midget. A cybernetic human,[2] #18 was modified by Dr. Gero. She is often referred to in the original Japanese as a jinzō-ningen, which literally translates as "artificial human". She is not entirely an android; she refers to both herself and her twin brother as having been "constructed from a human base". After Cell is defeated, Kuririn uses the Dragon Balls to wish for #17 and #18 to be turned into humans; Shenlong is unable to perform this task because of the unfathomable differences in power between him and the duo,[4] so he wishes instead for their self destruct devices to be removed. Kuririn pursues #18 and, at some point, they marry[1] and have a daughter named Marron. To clear up the heavily espoused misconception that #18 is a pure android and therefore could not have a child, Kuririn went on to explain to Son Goku during the World Tournament Saga that she was originally human but that Dr. Gero just "remodeled her a little bit."[ Krillin what the hell? he became obsessed with #18 just cause she gave him a playful kiss on the cheek. Dude really needs to get laid. But I guess that's hard seeing as he's a damn bald midget. Kuririn first appears in the original Dragon Ball series when he arrives at Muten-Roshi's island to become his apprentice. [9] Kuririn did this because he wanted to become a powerful fighter that could impress the ladies. Originally, Goku and Kuririn were rivals, with Kuririn using dirty tricks to outdo Goku during training, but eventually they become close friends. At finishing their training, Muten-Roshi has the two compete in the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai.[10] Kuririn makes it to the semi-finals (after defeating Bacterian in the quarter finals), but is defeated by Jackie Chun, who was really Muten-Roshi in disguise, preventing his students from becoming arrogant with too many victories. Kuririn continues to train with Roshi while Goku is collecting the Dragon Balls and helps him retrieve one of them, at which point he fights General Blue. He also participates in Baba's tournament with Goku, Yamucha, Puar and Upa, but loses in the first fight to Fangs the Vampire.3 years later, Kuririn enters the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai.[11] Again he makes it to the semi-finals (defeating Chaozu) but loses to Goku. Soon after however, Kuririn is killed by a henchman of Piccolo Daimao known as Tambourine.[12] After Goku defeats Piccolo Daimao, Kuririn is revived by the Dragon Balls. Another 3 years later, Kuririn enters the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai.[13] This time however, he only makes it to the quarter-finals, losing to Piccolo Junior. At the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, Kuririn is of the few Z Fighters to survive the fight against Vegeta and Nappa and he travels with Son Gohan and Bulma to Planet Namek to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to revive their dead friends.[14] Once there, they save Dende from death at the hands of Dodoria. After Dende learns of their cause, he leads Kuririn to the Elder Namek who unlocks Kuririn's hidden potential as well as giving the earthlings their first Namekian Dragon Ball. After a few close encounters with Vegeta, Kuririn and Gohan are forced to team up with him in order to fight the powerful Ginyu Special Corps, though they are defeated by Recoome. Luckily, Goku arrives and defeats the Corps with ease.[15] Kuririn is shortly after involved in a battle with Captain Ginyu, who has taken over Goku's body, and together with Gohan deals him enough damage that Ginyu is forced to find a new strategy. A prominent episode that was heavily edited for North American broadcast featured Freeza, in his second form, impaling Kuririn through the chest and disposing of his body in a lake, leading to Gohan furiously attacking Freeza and nearly being killed. However, Dende was able to heal Kuririn, who launched a surprise attack and severed Frieza's tail. Later in the saga, they thought Freeza to be defeated by Goku's enormous Genki Dama, Freeza reappeared and used his abilities to lift Kuririn high into the air and detonate him from the inside, killing him instantly. His death enrages Goku, causing him to become a Super Saiyan, and from there, defeat Freeza.[16] Kuririn is later revived by the Namekian Dragon Balls. During the Garlic Jr saga (anime only), Kuririn plays a lead role along with Gohan and Piccolo. He introduces his first girlfriend, 'Maron'. When everyone is affected by the Black Water Mist, only Kuririn, Gohan, Piccolo, Maron, Kami, Mr Popo, Yajirobe, Korin and Higher Dragon are unaffected. Gohan and Kuririn lead an assault on Garlic Jr and the Spice Boys for the Sacred Water, the only cure. Kuririn faces Mustard and protects Gohan from an attack by Salt, causing Gohan's anger level to rise, resulting in the deaths of Salt and Mustard. Piccolo, now affected by the Mist, bites Kuririn and both begin to attack Gohan. However, this was a staged diversion to free Kami and Mr Popo. Kuririn and Gohan fight Spice and Vinegar and they are quickly dispatched. Together with Piccolo, they then fight Garlic Jr long enough for Kami to release the sacred water. His plans foiled, Garlic Jr reopens the Dead Zone only to be sucked in again. After the fight and a failed effort to propose, Kuririn decides to break up with Maron, considering himself to be not good enough for her. During the Cell Saga, Kuririn trains for the three years and is on the front lines in all the fighting, tagging Dr Gero to his base and reporting it to the Z Fighters. When the Artificial Humans, #16, #17 and #18 are released he stays out of the fight due to fear. He becomes infatuated with the female #18 which causes him to resist deactivating her with a controller Bulma created, though because of this, regardless of his efforts Cell is able to absorb her and achieve his perfect form. [17] Kuririn is the first to face Cell in his perfect form and is defeated with one kick. He later participates in the Cell Games, a martial arts tournament created by Cell for entertainment, and fights one of the Cell Juniors who attack the Z Fighters, though he is easily beaten. He is saved from the Cell Juniors by Gohan who achieves Super Saiyan 2.[18] In the final beam struggle between Gohan and Cell, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Yamucha, Piccolo and Vegeta try to help him. Kuririn uses the second wish to remove the bomb from No. 18. By the time of the Majin Buu Saga, Kuririn has quit fighting and married #18, and has a daughter named Marron.[19] However, after learning of Goku's return from the Afterlife to compete in the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai, he decides to also participate (after 18 orders him). After Kaioshin enlists the Z Fighters to help him defeat the wizard Babidi, Kuririn joins them, but is turned into stone by Dabura, along with Piccolo.[20] He is later released after Dabra is killed by Majin Buu. Kuririn is later turned into chocolate and eaten by Super Buu, losing his life for the third time. [21] While in other world, Kuririn, Pauhikan, Olibu and Yamucha fight Kid Buu to no avail and are almost destroyed by Kid Buu. During Goku and Vegeta's fight against Kid Buu, Kuririn is brought back to life by the Namekian Dragon Balls and gives his energy to Goku's Genki-Dama, which is used to destroy Buu and return the world to peace.[22] His role in GT is minimal with a brief cameo in the Baby saga. In Super 17 saga, he is killed by Artificial Human #17. He is revived by Shenron after the defeat of Xi Shenlong and has a match with Goku, which he wins. Kuririn is seen in 2 of the Dragon Ball films, 12 of the Dragon Ball Z films, is seen briefly in the History of Trunks TV special and is shown in the Bardock TV special through flashbacks of Goku and Kuririn's training with Muten Roshi. Marron Regular girl.Marron (マーロン, Māron?) is the daughter of Kuririn and Artificial Human 18, and the niece of No. 17. She was born before the Majin Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z. As a little girl, she resembles her father. She has his eyes and nose, or lack there of. However, she does indeed have a nose, though small, and as she grows older, Marron begins to look more like her mother. |
